General description_x000D_
Monoclonal Anti-PIWIL1 (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma PIWIL1-6 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding to an internal region of human PIWIL1 conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH). The PIWI-like protein 1 (PIWIL1) belongs to the Argonaute protein family. This gene is located on human chromosome 12q24.33. PIWIL1 protein has 861 amino acid residues and possess a molecular weight of 98.6/kDa. It is expressed in prostate, ovary, brain, liver, heart, kidney and skeletal muscle._x000D_

Piwi proteins and piRNAs have been implicated in epigenetic control of gene expression, transposon silencing and translation regulation. Piwi proteins participates in germline development and gametogenesis of many metazoan species. PIWI-like protein 1 (PIWIL1) is also involved in stem cell proliferation, embryogenesis, growth and development, along with differentiation and maturation in numerous organisms. It can act as a molecular marker for forecasting the prognosis of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients.
