It activates hepatocyte nuclear factor 1α (HNF1A). The activated HNF1A further triggers liver specific gene expression associated with glucose, cholesterol and fatty acid metabolism. It acts as a biomarker in gastric and breast carcinomas. It has reported that, HNF4A controls glucose-stimulated insulin secretion.
