Description_x000D_ General description_x000D_ Vascular endothelial growth factor 121 (VEGF121) belongs to the platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)/VEGF family characterized by the presence of eight conserved cysteine residues and a cystine knot structure. VEGF121 is a disulfide-linked homodimer containing 121 amino acids and is the only variant of VEGF that does not interact with heparin._x000D_ Recombinant Mouse VEGF-121 is a truncated version of Mouse VEGF-165._x000D_ Biochem/physiol Actions_x000D_ VEGF121/rGel (toxin gelonin) fusion plays a vital role in targeted destruction of tumor vasculature in vivo and it can be used as a potent anti-cancer agent in cancer treatment. In mice, overexpression of VEGF121 enhanced the tumor growth, whereas VEGF165 decreased tumor growth, without affecting cancer cell proliferation in culture._x000D_ Physical form_x000D_ Lyophilized with no additives._x000D_ Reconstitution_x000D_ Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles._x000D_ Reconstitute the lyophilized product with sterile water at a concentration of 0.1 – 0.5 mg/mL, which can be further diluted into other aqueous solutions.
